Outreach

’So rich in conversation and ideas!’ Guild outreach project participant

Today over 100 creative fields are represented in the Guild membership. This diversity makes the Guild unique; it is a sociable place where traditional skills meet modern design methods, where creative connections are forged and ‘learning by doing’ is celebrated.

Our outreach activities bring people together to explore the many ways in which craftmanship nurtures creative thinking. We connect Guild members with students, educators, and academics; policy makers; medical professionals, scientists and engineers; families, young people, and refugees.

Our activities include practical workshops, exhibitions, demonstrations, collaborative projects, discussions and mentoring. We hope that everyone who participates will gain an insight into others’ approaches to engaging with the world, a deeper understanding of their own perspectives, and an opportunity to uncover surprising, illuminating and productive parallels between the two.

The Committee includes Philippa Brock, Prue Cooper, Sarah Corbett, Will Houstoun, Nick Hughes, Ruth Martin, Rachael Matthews, Richard McVetis, Seher Mirza, Jeremy Nichols, Rob Ryan, Anne Thorne, Maiko Tsutsumi and Rachel Warr.
