Anne Thorne’s award winning practice started in 1991, working on private/social housing, schools and community centres. She works to Passivhaus standards which involves low energy demand, so heating can cost as little as a cup of coffee a week. She uses non-toxic materials, wherever possible, with buildings ranging from straw bale to brickwork. She works with communities and individuals to design homes people want and love. Monitoring her schemes means she knows how to improve on the last one.
Anne’s practice is part of 15-40 a collective evolving key strategies for energy efficient architecture formed of six practices of the UK’s leading Passivhaus designers.
