Pots communicate without words but if a piece causes someone to stop, look and contemplate and if it then provokes a desire to touch and engage, then a conversation has begun.

I make pots to be used, handled and looked at – a broad definition of functional. I have also made “extra-curricular”, interactive pieces for the past few years which invite the viewer to physically interact with and alter the layout of a group of pots.
