Ruth Guilding

Ruth Guilding, who writes on the history of art and design, has worked at the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments for England, English Heritage, the Council for the Care of Churches and as a garden and architectural historian. In 2014 she published Owning the Past, a study of collecting and taste in C18th England (Yale University Press/Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art).

Latterly she has been documenting C20th British artists and contemporary British makers, culture, crafts, places, houses, art, collectors and work spaces at the bibleofbritishtaste.com She contributes to the arts pages of the Times Literary Supplement, Country Life and The World of Interiors and she is currently working on a book about the English Pub.
