Bridget Bailey

Category Artist, Maker

Region London

Bridget Bailey’s artworks and sculptures combine intricate making with the down-to-earth approach to life and death of an allotment gardener. They investigate aspects of nature, from the growth-rhythm in a tangle of grass to the particular posture of a dead butterfly’s legs.

She describes her making process as translating nature – interpreting its qualities through the materials and techniques from her textile and millinery background and giving these skills a level of surprise and refinement in their new context as artworks. Her recent work has been exhibited at Collect Art Fair at Somerset House, Jaggedart Gallery and Fresh Air Sculpture.

Bridget has an international reputation for teaching masterclasses in her textile and millinery techniques.
